First Time Home Buyer

First Time Home Buyer

In the U.S., each state will have their own benefits and requirements for First Time Home buyers.  It’s important to know your state’s standards because a lender may also have additional or overlapping benefits. Most lenders will only inform you about their benefits because they do not know about other lenders’ products. Treetop Mortgage is aware of each state’s requirements, but also the lenders. We can ensure that your benefits are not overlapping and recommend the lender or program that’s best for you.  In most states,

First-time homebuyers are those who have not owned a home in the past 3 years, excluding any ownership interest in residential or commercial property during this period.

Consumer Credit Counseling Service (CCCS)

In an effort to help first-time homebuyers be more knowledgeable and informed about the mortgage process and what goes into owning a home, the Consumer Credit Counseling Service (CCCS) provides free, one-on-one, first-time homebuying counseling sessions. Housing counselors will provide a budget, credit report analysis, and an action plan to help potential homebuyers achieve their dreams of homeownership.

Available Financial Assistance
CCCS offers an 8-hour First Time Home Buyer Workshop, free of charge. Some of the topics covered in the workshop include information on financing options, pre-qualifying for a mortgage, down-payment assistance programs, working with realtors, making an offer on a home, home inspections, homeowner’s insurance, closing a loan transaction, and fair housing.
